Marketing Communications Head Boston, MA – Near South Station

Zoom Telephonics, Inc. designs, produces, markets, and supports Motorola brand cable modems, routers, sensors, and other Internet-related devices under an exclusive worldwide license from Motorola. Zoom also sells USB cell modems and other communication products under its Zoom brand. Founded in 1977, Zoom is a publicly traded company with headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts and a total staff of 35 people. Zoom’s primary sales channel is high-volume retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and WalMart.

We are currently looking for a hands-on Marketing Communications Head who is an excellent writer and editor and who is comfortable with technology.

Responsibilities of the Marketing Communications Head include:

  • Make sure that the company’s image is excellent. In doing this, write and/or edit marketing materials including Web pages, Amazon ads, industry briefs customer communications, datasheets, and other materials. You will have the primary responsibility for the company’s image.
  • Direct our advertising including Amazon, Google, Facebook and other advertising.
  • Help to develop and implement Zoom’s brand strategy, including launch of new products.
  • Help to develop and deliver to media outlets our product-focused public relations messages.
  • Edit investor-focused news releases, slide presentations, and other investor materials for our public company.
  • Enhance Zoom’s social media presence. Monitor social channels for trending news, ideas and memes, then capitalize on those trends through social media.
  • Partner with Sales team, providing necessary tools, materials, and presentations.
  • Help to develop and execute the marketing plan for Zoom’s Cellular Multi-Sensor, targeted to consumer markets. This plan includes public relations and social media outreach. Oversee the development of creative materials and targeted pitch communications for this product.
  • Continually analyze competitive environment to improve our positioning.
  • Perform research into our industry and provide actionable tips and advice for improving Zoom’s marketing processes. Track industry events and trends and use them to develop marketing messages.

Minimum Qualifications of the Marketing Communications Head include:

  • Demonstrated success in consumer marketing
  • Excellent writer and editor
  • Strong verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to be effective in a lean, fast-moving, growing company
  • Confident, dynamic, and effective leadership
  • Being comfortable with computers and/or networking is a plus
