Zoom Partners with Aztech Systems to
bring VoIP to New Markets
Zoom’s Global Village® service to be bundled with
Aztech’s VoIP products
Boston, MA, June 1, 2005 — Zoom
Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ZOOM)
announced today that Aztech Systems, a global leader in data
and voice communications
products, has chosen to bundle Zoom’s Global Village
VoIP “Voice Over the Internet” phone service
with Aztech VoIP products.
Zoom’s Global Village is a unique service that provides
its users with a wide variety of free and “pay per
call” VoIP services, all with no monthly fee. Global
Village users can make free phone calls anywhere in the world
to other Global Village subscribers or to other VoIP users
with SIP compatible service. SIP is the most commonly used
non-proprietary VoIP standard. Global Village users can also
access a wide range of advanced telecommunication services
like voice mail, multi-number call forwarding, and call conferencing
at no charge and with no monthly fee.
Subscribers can also take advantage of Global Village’s “pay-per-call” service
at anytime. This service offers very low rates for international
calls to any regular telephone to or from almost any country
in the world. Customers are only charged for the calls they
make, when they make them. Call information, including duration
and cost for each call, can be viewed anytime – even
during the call - on the Global Village website. The Global
Village website also makes it easy to manage a subscriber’s
account and to set up or reconfigure special Global Village
features.
Zoom worked with Aztech to customize the service for Aztech’s
core retail market by adding Singapore dollars to the subscriber’s
payment options. Zoom is also providing Aztech customers
with 60 minutes of free calling to regular phones in 27 countries,
so Aztech customers can experience the quality and ease of
use for themselves.
Aztech announced on May 30, 2005 that its first product
with Global Village, the V300ATA VoIP Broadband Router, “will
be available at major stores like Harvey Norman, Best Denki
and Challenger Superstores as well as retail and computer
outlets in Sim Lim Square and Funan Centre, Singapore in
early June 2005.”
“Aztech Internet Phone Service Starter Kit provides
out-of-the-box connectivity, combining Aztech’s high
quality hardware with a premium Internet phone service from
Global Village,
thereby allowing customers to make high-quality phone calls
over their broadband connection at a fraction of today’s
overseas call charge. This translates to substantial cost
savings for consumers,” said Mr Michael Mun, President
and CEO of Aztech Systems Ltd.
“We are extremely pleased to have Global Village
bundled with Aztech’s VoIP products,” said Frank
Manning, Zoom’s President and CEO. “Aztech is
a world-class producer of communication products with over
1,800 employees
worldwide. This relationship extends Global Village into
major new markets including Asia, and represents a strong
endorsement of Zoom and our Global Village service.”
