QA Test Engineer Boston, MA – Near South Station

Zoom Telephonics, Inc. designs, produces, markets, and supports Motorola brand cable modems, routers, sensors, and other Internet-related devices under an exclusive worldwide license from Motorola. Zoom also sells USB cell modems and other communication products under its Zoom brand. Founded in 1977, Zoom is a publicly traded company with headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts and a total staff of 35 people. Zoom’s primary sales channel is high-volume retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and WalMart.

We are looking for a QA Test Engineer that has at least 1 – 2 years of experience and has worked with Linux.

Responsibilities of the QA Test Engineer include:

Ensure maximum product quality by validating system-level functionality under normal and stress conditions. This will include the following: performing full tests of Firmware, User interfaces on browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome) and apps, functional tests and system tests; bug fix verification; and regression testing.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Testing and validating features and functionality with new and existing software/firmware
  • Reviewing all documentation and test plans and executing test plans and test cases in a network environment while ensuring the integrity of lab environment
  • Providing troubleshooting and expeditious resolution of network/test environment issues
  • Performing Firmware/Hardware/Platform Testing on different product lines

Minimum Qualifications of the QA Test Engineer include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with at least 1-2 years of test experience.
  • Experience in regression testing on new and existing software/firmware releases for embedded communication devices
  • Experience in networking testing (Firewall, Port Forwarding, Dynamic DNS, MAC, IP, Port, URL Filtering)
  • Experience testing in IPv6, IPv4 and VPN (PPTP, L2TP and IPSec)
  • Experience in cloud based testing (cloud computing)
  • Experience testing on all Windows and Mac OS X platforms
  • Experience in Linux required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with a team of skilled test engineers
  • Must be a team player, highly motivated and willing to learn

Desired Qualifications of the QA Test Engineer include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with at least 1-2 years of test experience
  • Experience with Cable Modem Router and wireless testing a plus
  • Understanding Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) a plus
  • Experience in working with IoT applications
