Firmware Version
for Zoom 3G/4G Travel Router Model 4506BG

How to Apply the Firmware Upgrade

Important Notes:

  1. Connect a computer directly into the Zoom router’s Ethernet port, and make sure the router is plugged into AC power. Do not attempt to carry out the firmware upgrade over a wireless connection or through another router or network device!
  2. Open a web browser and type (the router’s current default LAN IP address) in the address bar. Press Enter.
  3. When the Status page appears, type admin in the System Password field at the top of the page, and then click Login.
  4. Click the Advanced icon at the top of the page.
  5. Click the Toolbox icon.
  6. On the Toolbox page, in the left column, click Firmware Upgrade/Restore.
  7. On the Firmware Upgrade/Restore page, click Browse.
  8. On the Choose File (or File Upload) dialog box, navigate to and select the Zoom4506BG-v1.0.0.1-4.bin file, and then click Open.
  9. You will be returned to the Firmware Upgrade/Restore page. Click Upgrade.
  10. The firmware upgrade will take about 90 seconds to load and then the router will restart automatically. Please wait about 2 minutes for this entire process to complete.
  11. You must reset the router to its factory default configuration:
    1. Insert a straightened paperclip (or similar object) into the RESET hole on the side panel of the router.
    2. Hold the paperclip in place for 7 seconds, until the WiFi (left) and USB (right) LEDs start blinking rapidly.
    3. Wait about 45 seconds while the router resets and restarts.
  12. Now you may reconfigure the router with your settings, and then reconnect any USB modem. If you cannot access the router's configuration manager, enter in your web browser's address bar and try again. Note that this is the router's new default LAN IP address.
